Installation

Install via portable ZIP or NSIS

Choose the installation method that best suits your workflow.

The portable ZIP archive requires no installation. Extract it to any folder and run CineWindows.exe directly. All settings and configuration are stored inside the extracted folder, making it ideal for USB drives or temporary use.

Download the ZIP

Download the latest CineWindows-Portable-*.zip from the releases page. The file is approximately 80 MB.

Extract the archive

Right-click the ZIP file and select Extract All, or use your preferred archive tool. Choose any destination — an external drive works fine.

Launch CineWindows

Open the extracted folder and double-click CineWindows.exe. The application starts immediately with default settings.

The NSIS installer registers CineWindows with the Start Menu, adds optional file association context menu entries, and provides an uninstaller for clean removal.

Download the installer

Download CineWindows-Setup-*.exe from the releases page.

Run the installer

Double-click the downloaded executable. If a SmartScreen prompt appears, click More info then Run anyway.

Choose installation options

Select the destination folder (defaults to %ProgramFiles%\CineWindows). On the component page you may optionally:

  • Register common media file associations (.mp4, .mkv, .avi, .mov, .webm, .flv, .wmv, .mp3, .flac, .aac, .ogg, .wav)
  • Add a desktop shortcut
  • Add an “Open with CineWindows” context menu entry

Complete installation

Click Install and wait for the process to finish. Check Launch CineWindows and click Finish to start the application immediately.
